Boot to your XP Cd and get into the recovery console. after that run the command "chkdsk /r", then try to do the repair install again.
If that does not work, you can also try to repair it by alternating the memory modules (RAM). If you have two in there, try it with only one in bank 0 and then with the other one.
All I can say if that doesn't work is to backup your data and do a fresh install.

I have partitioned my hard drive into 4 parts, and in one part I installed windows XP sp2 about a year ago. I've noticed several error messages recently and then I decided to reinstall (repair installation). Everything was going fine until at 33 minutes it simply stops installing. The screen continues moving and the animation flowing, but after hours nothing changes still. I turned off the PC and turned it on again and the installation continues from where it stopped. I believe I might have made a mistake choosing repair - maybe for some reason there is not enough disk space - and I should've formatted that partition to reinstall. I have disconnected USBs and network, and still the reinstallation doesn't complete.
My question is, how can I restart the reinstallation - either repair or formatting - again, since the current installation automatically restarts everytime I start the comp? Is there any way I can finish this current installation?
