Here’s some valuable info before you reinstall an o/s. Especially if lower then windows ME for ex. 98 or 95. first go to device manager (system icon in Control Panel and write down the names of your devices like video, sound, modem, network card like the major things. And if your not feeling lucky id even go as far as downloading em on external media first. because once you have a clean operating installed, it may not detect your devices and you’ll have no idea what drivers to install if you don’t know what they are or don’t have the cd's for the devices. the good thing abo ME and above is that it has auto driver detect just put any cd in and search it under device manager window. 95,98 sucks finding drivers unless you know what they are and where in the folders they are.
Now to install 98 make a 98se boot disk w cd support and boot pc with floppy to drop to dos and format the old data from the drive.
(Watch the text to see what drive letter the ramdrive that will be created becomes becouse the format command is going to be in there its usualy the next letter after your last cd or dvd drive letter)
1. type E: [Enter]<--press it may be different in every system
2. Type format c: /s/u [Enter] btw the /u/s is optional but it’s an old tech habit its useful
3. Once it gets to a 100% your drive should be nice and clean to install a windows
4. Just reboot the pc with the floppy and cd still in the pc and one of the options should ask you if you want to install windows from the cd if it doest your boot floppy may not be the correct version.
5. just to be a know it all id like to add that you don’t need a bootable floppy at all if your pc supports boot from cd first option in the bios or setup menu.
By the way ill have more detaila in my site TurkTech.Us sorry for the free gorilla advertising in your site.
Andy your site looks beautiful.

| Yes, you have to put in the floppies or the cd. I do not know exactly what because it was such a long time ago, that I used windows 95. Once you put in the cd or the floppies in the floppy drive you start the computer from scratch and boot from the floppy or from the cd.

| ok. You have to boot from your floppy or cd to install it. You do not load it from within windows.

Hi there:
With this computer you can only run windows 95, 98 or me. You can upgrade the ram so the operating system runs better.
1. Reinstall windows 95,98,me
2. Goto http://windowsupdate.com and repeat it until you see no more updates there.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Andy

| Okay hello everyone. Help is needed here so if you have any suggestions and can point me in the right direction it is much appreciated. I have a Dell PC and am currently running Windos 98 on it-the computer was a gift from my mom, from the place she used to work, now I am more used to being easily able to click start, accessories, system tools and restore or reformat the comp. from there, but that doesn't exist here. Is it because it's 98??? the last comp. I had had XE or ME on it I don't really recall-so is it because of the version of windows that this isn't readily available??? Or am I missing something. Anyway my comp. keeps telling me resouces are low and there are some programs on here that I downloaded or just showed up that I cannot remove no matter how many times I go to the add/remove program thingy and click to remove the program. So I'm throwing my hat in the ring-I want to restore or reformat I just don't know how to I have looked over some websites and am totally lost,I am no good w/technical stuff. I'm not worried about what is on here because I use it mostly for access to my online college stuff, the rest is fun and games doll making and e-mails. All I seem to have Windows disk wise is a Windows 98 upgrade disk and two Windows 95 disks-I'm guesssing the original disk and an upgrade. So anyway what can I do or what needs to be done???? I'm so lost. Please help-I'm streesed enough-lol!!!! Thanks.
