Housecall has 2 engines, a activex engine and a java engine. Most spyware disables the installation of activex components, especially when thouse components have to do with spyware removal.
Changing the engine to Java: Make sure that you have the latest version of Java installed. You can do so at http://www.java.com. A lot of spyware gets onto your computer with old java versions installed. Then run housecall and select as kernel java.
